The woman who took a stray bullet Friday in her upper torso at the Park Crossing Apartments in Gainesville is in stable condition, according to authorities.
Gainesville Police responded before 11 p.m. to the Gainesville apartments.
The victim, Sidalia Mejia, was in a “separate apartment and struck by a stray bullet from an altercation outside the apartment.”
Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said the woman had no involvement in the dispute and was transported to the hospital.
“At last check, she had non-life-threatening injuries and she was in stable condition,” he said.
Two men were arrested, but no one has been charged with the shooting, Holbrook said.
Demetrick Lontra Thornton, 39, was charged with possession of a firearm with an altered serial number and Broshea Maurice Sherrod, 46, was arrested on an outstanding Hall County warrant.
No further identifying information was released on Sherrod, Thornton or Mejia.
