BRASELTON — A man robbed a Wachovia Bank this morning in Braselton, getting away with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to police.

The suspect parked his blue truck in front of the bank, then went inside the bank, located at 7360 Spout Springs Road, said Assistant Police Chief Lou Solis. After showing a silver gun to the tellers, the suspect asked them to fill a gym bag with money, Solis said.

He said the suspect then ran out to his truck to get away, dropping some of the stolen money as he left. The suspect fled the scene in his truck via the Kroger parking lot behind the bank and drove away on Friendship Road heading toward Buford, according to Solis.

Solis said the man is described as a 6-foot, 1-inch tall black male, wearing a blue sweatshirt and blue jeans.

No one was injured during the robbery.

Braselton and Hoschton police, along with Hall County sheriff’s deputies, came to the scene, and Gwinnett County police were notified of the robbery, since the bank is located in a multijurisdiction area, Solis said.

Maj. Murray Kogod from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office sent a crime scene investigation unit to the site, and the FBI came to the bank to interview employees and to help determine how much money was stolen.

The investigation is ongoing, Solis said, as officers were reviewing a video of the robbery.
