Police are searching for two suspects who allegedly robbed a convenience store Thursday night.
Two black males are suspected of stealing at least $600 from the J&S Food Mart on Thompson Bridge Road, and held one customer at gunpoint, said Joe Britte, public information officer for the Gainesville Police Department.
After entering the store around 10:45 p.m., one suspect grabbed the only customer and held him face down on the ice cream freezer while brandishing a small black handgun, Britte said. The other suspect then jumped over the counter and demanded the clerk open the cash drawer.
"Two males came with guns and tried to threaten my cashier," said Akbar Dhannani, the store owner. "They jumped from the front register to the counter in the back, and they took all the money."
One of the suspects was wearing a red hooded shirt with black sleeves and two white stripes on each sleeve.
He was also wearing blue jeans, black Air Force 1 shoes, white gloves and a black cloth or T-shirt wrapped around his face.
He is described as being approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 165 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
The other suspect is described as being approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded shirt, blue jeans, dark-colored shoes, white gloves and also had his face covered.
Britte said the case is still under investigation, and the department has not received any leads.
