Gainesville Police are investigating a robbery and aggravated assault that injured a 25-year-old Gainesville man Saturday night.

Police were called to the 1500 Building at Lenox Parks Apartments in Gainesville at about 11:30 p.m.

Gainesville Police spokesman Kevin Holbrook said a caller had reported "several black males were assaulting another male" outside of the apartments.

The suspects took less than $100 in cash from the victim's pocket as well as a cell phone, and it appeared they broke his jaw bone, Holbrook said. The victim was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

Holbrook added that the incident did not appear to be a random act of violence.

"There does appear to be some type of relationship between these suspects and the victim," he said.

He said descriptions of the suspects are vague, but "investigators are currently following up on those leads."
