Police searching for identity theft suspect
Gainesville police suspect this woman, captured on surveillance video, of stealing someone’s identity and using it to withdraw cash and make purchases. They are hoping the public can identify her.

Seeking clues in a December incident, Gainesville police released pictures Thursday of a woman suspected of identity theft.

Police said the woman knowingly used another person’s identity to withdraw cash and make purchases.

In mid-December, the woman entered a Gainesville bank, and using another person’s information, withdrew cash from an account. She then went to a local store and paid for purchases with the victim’s credit card, police said.

"It is our hope that the public can assist us in identifying the individual. These types of crimes are important to all, as they greatly affect each and every one of us in some way," police said in a news release.
