Gainesville police are investigating a Wednesday night stabbing and a report of shots fired, two incidents they believe are related. Police received a 911 call about 9 p.m. from the 900 block of Lanier Avenue, off Thompson Bridge Road, stating a man was stabbed in the chest and shoulder, Cpl. Kevin Holbrook said. As authorities responded to the stabbing, a separate 911 call reported shots fired in the same area.
