A Gainesville woman was struck and killed by a Jeep Friday night near Limestone Parkway and Clarks Bridge Road, police said.

Lola Ledford, 40, was identified as the woman killed by the southbound vehicle around 9:15 p.m. Friday.

“She was in a vehicle,” Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said Monday. “For unknown reasons, she got out of the vehicle in the roadway and was then struck by another vehicle.”

Holbrook did not have any further information regarding the Jeep’s driver.

Ward’s Funeral Home is handling the arrangements, and the funeral service is scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.

Holbrook said the driver would likely not be charged.
