Police, FBI Police seek 2 men in Oakwood bank robbery
A still image from surveillance video shows suspects in the robbery of the Bank of the Ozarks in Oakwood.

Police are searching for two men who robbed an Oakwood bank Friday afternoon.

Two black men took an undisclosed amount of cash from Bank of the Ozarks off Mundy Mill Road in an armed robbery the Federal Bureau of Investigation described as “takeover-style.”

Investigators say the men entered the bank shortly before 3 p.m. Friday wearing black masks.

One of them jumped the counter and put two tellers in the bank vault.

The other went to each office forcing the employees to the ground.

Six employees and one customer were in the bank at the time of the robbery, said Cpl. Danny Sridej of the Oakwood Police. No one was hurt in the incident.

They described one of the robbers as 5-feet 11-inches and 180 pounds with a light complexion and freckles around his eyes. He wore a white shirt with khaki pants and white shoes.

The other robber has been described as 6-feet 2-inches weighing about 250 pounds. He wore a dark shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.

Police originally thought that the men took off across a nearby open field, but a police dog deployed by the Oakwood police department wasn’t able to detect a scent.

Customers who came to the bank Friday afternoon found a white paper sign on the door notifying them that it had been closed due to an emergency.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery or the suspects is asked to contact the Atlanta office FBI at 404-679-9000.
