A small plane crashed at a private airport in South White County today, but the pilot did not sustain any injuries.
White County Fire Department spokeswoman Ana Newberry said the pilot, who was the only person onboard, was attempting to land when he overshot the runway.
"All we can gather, from what he is saying, is he though the runway was a little bit longer," Newberry said.
The White County Fire Department responded to the crash at about 2:15 involving a 1977 airplane.
She said while the pilot, who is from Hoschton, did not suffer any injuries. However; the plane suffered extensive damage.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
