The Georgia Department of Transportation Monday began resurfacing parts of Ga. 136 from Ga. 400 in Dawson County to Ga. 60 in Hall County.

Work will occur weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as weather permits. The project is expected to be completed by November 2008, and a pilot car will be used to lead traffic through the work zone. The 10.77-mile stretch of highway is being repaved at a cost of $1.8 million.

The DOT also plans to close the inside lane of Interstate 85 northbound between Interstate 985 and Ga. 20.

The lane will be closed from 8 p.m. to 3 p.m. each weekday this week.

Delays are expected as a new exit-only lane is added to I-85 northbound.

This project is on I-85 north only. No work will occur on I-85 southbound. The 2.23-mile project is expected to be completed by April 30 and will cost more than $10.4 million.
