A Gainesville man is charged with reckless conduct after a woman was shot in the arm in downtown Gainesville early Sunday.

Chelsey Robinson of Gainesville was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries after the incident at 1:45 a.m. Oct. 14 near Maple and Spring streets, Sgt. Kevin Holbrook with Gainesville Police said. She was discharged from the hospital later that morning, Holbrook said.

Ian Curry, 28, of Gainesville, is charged in the incident, which Holbrook said may have been accidental, according to initial reports. A large group of people who knew each other, including many family members, were downtown, and the suspect produced a firearm, possibly to show it to another person, he said.

The responding officers had already been in the downtown area and heard the gunshot, and when they arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound in her arm, he said.
