Clark & Sons Classic Firearms is locked, loaded and ready for business.

The gun shop held its grand opening on Monday, June 24 at 3346 Hilltop Circle in North Hall.

Owned by Rory Clark, the business buys and sells new and secondhand firearms.

Clark initially opened his shop in Clermont two years ago, and decided to relocate to a Gainesville address for a larger space and better visibility.

At Clark’s store people can find popular brands like Remington, Browning and Kimber. Clark also carries vintage firearms, which he purchases from people’s collections and through gun shows. He recently sold a Colt Single Action Cowboy, which dates back to 1891.

In addition to working in the firearms industry for 40 years, Clark has nearly 20 years of experience in law enforcement. He currently works as a part-time deputy for the Towns County Sheriff’s Office.

The “Sons” part of the store’s name represents Clark’s son and five grandsons. When Clark can no longer carry on the business, he plans to keep the legacy alive through his family.

“This is what I’ll hand down to my son and grandsons,” Clark said. “It’s going to stay a family business.”

Ever since he was a child, Clark has embraced a passion for deer hunting. His son shares the same interest, and one of Clark’s grandsons has already been introduced to the sport.

“It’s just being in the outdoors, that’s what drew me to it,” Clark said.

Many of Clark’s regular customers, who visited his shop in Clermont, came out to show their support on Monday.

Roy Crissman drove all the way from Blairsville to see the new space. Crissman has remained a loyal customer of Clark’s for over 25 years. Even when Clark worked for another gun store, Crissman would seek him out.

“He always provides good service and always has reasonable prices,” Crissman said.

With his new location, Clark said he hopes to add a Gainesville customer base to his Clermont regulars.

“We’re here to help you if there’s a gun that you need,” Clark said. “Whether a handgun, long gun, gun for protection, gun for hunting — we’re here to help.”

The store’s hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. For more information about Clark & Sons Classic Firearms, visit its Facebook page or call 678-450-8533.
