A segment of Sardis Road washed out by heavy rains earlier this fall has reopened.

Simpson Trucking & Grading completed work on the roadway Saturday, Hall County Engineer Kevin McInturff said.

“Despite continuous wet weather that caused unavoidable delays, Simpson’s crews went above and beyond to make sure these repairs were made as quickly as possible,” he said. “Whenever the weather permitted, they were out there late into the night, making sure the job got done.”

The reopened stretch is between the Sardis Compactor Site and Sardis Elementary School.

“Our first priority is always the safety of our citizens,” Hall County Administrator Randy Knighton said. “We appreciate the public’s patience as repairs were made to ensure this road was safe to drive on once again.”

The portion of the road that had been closed was washed out on Oct. 2.
