Hall County officials have reopened a portion of the county-owned parking deck in downtown Gainesville that had been closed for repairs.

Hall County’s Public Information Officer Nikki Young issued a statement Tuesday that construction has been completed on a portion of the top floor of the Hall County Parking Facility located at the corner of Spring Street and E.E. Butler Parkway.

The top floor of the deck was closed in October to fix a defect caused by a construction error in 2002.

County officials said the crack in the parking surface did not threaten the structural integrity of the deck, but did pose a hazard to pedestrians.

“Now the concrete has been re-cast, and the surface is safe for the public. We’re glad to be able to open up these parking spaces again,” said Brett Jockell, building maintenance supervisor.
