A parent was taken to the hospital in serious condition after a wreck Wednesday morning at Centennial Arts Academy in Gainesville, according to Gainesville City Schools.

The Gainesville Police Department reports that the initial investigation shows the parent, who was driving a vehicle, may have suffered a medical emergency. Two vehicles were involved in the 8 a.m. incident, but no one else was injured.

“We understand that many parents may have seen the emergency personnel and apparatus at the school this morning and are concerned,” police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said. “They should know that we are working with the school system as we do with any emergency situation and will keep them updated.”

No students were involved and school staff are “working diligently with the family to provide support,” according to a news release from the school system.
