Papas Pizza To-Go owner resubmits deannexation request

Businessman Chris Nonnemaker has reapplied for deannexation from Clermont, fulfilling a pledge he made at the April 7 Town Council meeting.

He is seeking to withdraw from the city his 6-acre tract featuring a Papa’s Pizza To-Go restaurant off U.S. 129/Cleveland Highway, an act that would leave the property in unincorporated Hall County.

Nonnemaker had gotten approval from the council in March for the measure, but he balked when a councilwoman who sided with him in the first vote — Kristi Crumpton — was absent for the final vote.

After some discussion with Mayor James Nix, Nonnemaker said he wanted to suspend his application and reapply later.

The request could go back before the council in May or June, Deputy Town Clerk Amy Lomax said.

“The council will probably be discussing it at our work session (Tuesday),” she said.

That meeting is set for 7 p.m. at the Chattahoochee Center, 639 Main St.
