One student, woman taken to hospital after school bus wreck

A student and a woman involved in a school bus wreck Wednesday afternoon were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, according to authorities. Hall County bus 9730 was stopped to allow students get off at Winder Highway at Union Place in South Hall. Georgia State Patrol said Linda Bruce, 72, of Flowery Branch, drove her Chevrolet Lumina into the rear of the bus carrying 33 Chestnut Mountain Creative School of Inquiry elementary students. “A student who was experiencing discomfort from the impact was transported to (Northeast Georgia Medical Center) and the driver of the vehicle was also transported,” Hall County Schools spokesman Gordon Higgins wrote in an email. Bruce’s car was towed due to disabling damage.
