One person was killed and three were injured Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle wreck on Browns Bridge Road.

According to a Gainesville Police news release, Jose Pacheco, 70, was trying to turn left onto Browns Bridge Road from Spring Road in a 1993 Chevrolet S10 when he pulled into the path of a 1986 S10 Blazer, driven by Pedrick Barrett, 27.

Magdalena Zamarripa, 65, who was a passenger in Pacheco’s vehicle, received fatal injuries from the wreck, which occurred at about 3:40 p.m.

Pacheco, Barrett and an unidentified passenger in Barrett’s vehicle were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for further evaluation, the news release said.

At one point, eastbound lanes were closed and westbound traffic was rerouted, said Gainesville Police Sgt. Dean Staples.

Hall County Fire Service sent three medical units to the scene, said Chief David Kimbrell.

The accident is still under investigation by Gainesville Police.
