Authorities are searching for a 54-year-old woman reported missing late Monday night in the area of Amicalola Falls State Park.
According to Dawson County Sheriff's Capt. Tony Wooten, Lynn Bresee was reported missing about 11 p.m. Monday by a man with whom she had been camping.
Wooten said the pair had been in the Amicalola area for about a week, after making their way together from Florida.
He said the fellow camper told authorities that Bresee left the campsite about 3:30 p.m. Monday afternoon with the intention of taking a shower.
When she did not return, the man notified authorities.
The sheriff's office, emergency services and the Department of Natural Resources searched the area overnight into Tuesday morning with no sign of Bresee. Tracking dogs were also used in the search.
"We are working with EMS and DNR to try to find her," Wooten said. "At this point we are treating it as if she is lost in the forest. However, we are not ruling anything out."
Bresee, who is described as white with blonde hair, was last seen wearing shorts and a light-colored shirt with a floral pattern.
