Oakwood school bus rear-ended in early morning incident

The truck driver involved in this incident on Mundy Mill Road did not suffer serious injuries, Oakwood Police said. Three students reported minor injuries and the bus driver was "shaken up," according to the school system.

An Oakwood Elementary School bus was involved in a traffic incident Friday morning in Oakwood.

Three students of the 30 on board reported minor injuries, according to the Hall County school system. No one was transported from the scene for medical care.

The bus driver was “shaken by the accident,” the school system reported. The other driver involved did not suffer serious injuries, Oakwood Police said.

The bus, No. 2708 driven by Jeanna Knowels, was rear ended by a wrecker truck on Mundy Mill Road, according to the school system.

Police said the bus stopped just after 7 a.m. at the Creekside on Mundy Mill apartments at Mundy Mill Road and Meeks Drive.

A flatbed truck slammed into the back, police said.

“Only minor soreness reported,” the school system wrote on social media.

Oakwood Principal Dana Magill was at the scene to check on her students, according to the school system. The students went to school on another bus.

The road was reopened around 8:30 a.m.

Police are investigating the incident.
