Property taxes in Oakwood are due Tuesday.
The South Hall city sent out bills Dec. 1. Residents can mail them in or pay them at City Hall, 4035 Walnut Circle.
Residents who pay after Tuesday face a $25 penalty and a 1 percent interest charge added to the base amount due.
Interest will continue to accrue until the bill is paid in full, City Clerk Tangee Puckett said.
Taxes go to support the city's $3.6 million general operations budget for 2011, which began Jan. 1 and runs through Dec. 31. The City Council approved the spending plan on Nov. 8.
The city has a tax rate of 2.48 mills, with 1 mill equal to $1 for each $1,000 in assessed property value. Property is assessed at 40 percent in the city.
The tax rate has remained the same for 11 consecutive years.
