Members of the Oakwood City Council meet Monday, Sept. 9, 2019.

Commercial uses were approved Monday night for Martin Road near Interstate 985’s newly opened Exit 14.

Oakwood City Council voted Sept. 9 to approve numerous uses for 15 acres at 4207 Martin Road to highway business, including a drive-in restaurant, banks, medical offices and car washes.

Hotels would be excluded on the site, which is also at Falcon Parkway/Ga. 13 and across the road from Martin Technology Academy of Math and Science.

The development also could spread out over six outparcels.

And final site plans would go before the City Council for final approval.

“So, each time they would have to come back for approval for what would be going into that particular space?” Councilwoman Pat Jones asked Council Todd Wilson, who made the motion for approval. “So, they would be coming back … six times?”

“Unless they present the six outparcels at one time,” Wilson said.
