An Oakwood man was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday on multiple counts of aggravated child molestation.

Kenny Puckett, 28, was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Jason Deal of the Northeastern Judicial Circuit to a minimum of 25 years, with the rest of his life on probation for additional counts of aggravated child molestation, rape and aggravated sexual battery.

Puckett pleaded guilty to the charges, which included the molestation of an 8-year-old girl in more than 20 separate incidents from December 2009 to March 2011.

The girl's school counselor informed the Hall County Sheriff's Office of the possible incidents and an investigation began.

"The defendant confessed to the crimes, and physical evidence was recovered to corroborate the reports of the child," Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh said.

Darragh described the case as one of the worst molestation cases he has dealt with in his career.

"This case of molestation was among the most severe I've seen in over 30 years of prosecution," he said.

"The fact that the defendant confessed and entered a guilty plea to his crimes attests to the quality of (Hall County Sheriff's Investigator Dan Franklin's) investigation and the quality of the evidence. The victim can rest assured that justice was served."
