A 21-acre, mixed-retail development has gotten final approval from the Oakwood City Council.

During a called meeting Monday, the council approved annexing the property needed for the project between Interstate 985 and Atlanta Highway.

Current plans for the project include a shopping center and potentially a six- to eight-story hotel. A site map for the project reveals plans to construct a new road through the project from Mundy Mill Road — near Regions Bank — to Robert Wood Johnson Drive.

The project is being developed by Wayne Clark & Associates, which is based in Buford.
