No serious lake incidents so far, DNR reports

The Fourth of July weekend has been calm on Georgia lakes so far, the Department of Natural Resources reports.
The DNR reported no serious boating incidents or drownings Friday or Saturday statewide.

Rangers issued 15 citations for boating under the influence, bringing the weekend total so far to 27.

There were three BUIs issued on Lake Lanier on Saturday and four total for the weekend. Three boating incidents led to one injury. Two incidents Friday resulted in one injury.

“We hope for a great and safe night and a better day tomorrow,” DNR Public Affairs Officer Mark McKinnon said in an email news release.
