No injuries in Hall house fire

A Lake Lanier summer home was destroyed in a fire around 5 p.m. Monday evening but nobody was injured.

No one was home when the fire occurred on Locovare Road in North Hall, but Fire Chief David Kimbrell said the home was a total loss by the time they arrived.

"That's about all we could do — just contain it there and put out what little bit was left," he said.

Fire investigators are still looking into the cause, but neighbors reported hearing several explosions as the home burned.

Kimbrell said the sound may have just been air sucking into the house, but nothing has yet been confirmed.

"We get that a good bit," he said.

"Typically when a house is burning and it ventilates and sucks a lot of air, you get what appears to be an explosion sound."
