Nine area intersections are being upgraded to become more pedestrian-friendly, with a couple of them — particularly busy Atlanta Highway at Memorial Park Drive — getting left-turn signals. Work is “wrapping up” on the $1.4 million project, which targets several major road crossings throughout Hall County, said Teri Pope, Georgia Department of Transportation district spokeswoman. Basically, the work will bring the intersections up to federal Americans with Disabilities Act standards, with pedestrian signals, crosswalk striping and wheelchair ramps.
