Laird Miller was recently awarded the Cardinal Health Foundation’s Champions Award at the Georgia Pharmacy Association’s annual convention. The award recognizes a pharmacist who has demonstrated excellence in community-based prescription drug abuse prevention.
The award is intended to recognize outstanding efforts within the pharmacy community to raise awareness of this serious public health problem. It is also intended to encourage educational prevention efforts aimed at patients, youth and other members of the community.
Miller was cited for his educational efforts about the dangers of narcotic drug use and his efforts to make Narcan rescue available to residents and first responders to try and stem the increasing death toll associated with prescription drug abuse.
Miller serves on the Georgia Board of Pharmacy, the board of the Georgia Academy of Independent Pharmacy, and is the former owner of Medical Park Pharmacy in Gainesville.
