Northeast Georgia Health System recently hired Marsha Porter as executive director of perioperative services.
In this role, Porter acts as a liaison between medical staff, patients, administration, nursing staff and other divisions. She is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the delivery of high quality, individualized patient care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary teams.
Porter began her nursing career in 1980 as an operating room staff nurse. Most of her career was spent at Duke University Hospital in perioperative services holding positions from staff nurse to clinical operations director.
After leaving Duke in 2014, Porter worked at the Medical University of South Carolina as clinical director of the operating rooms and, most recently, at Mission Health in Asheville, N.C., as director of the Asheville Surgery Center.
