Newsmaker in business: Andersen to join Humane Society as associate veterinarian

Dr. Summer Andersen will​ be​ ​join​ ​the Humane​ ​Society​ ​of​ ​Northeast​ ​Georgia​ ​​staff​ ​as​ ​an​ ​associate​ ​veterinarian​ ​in​ ​March​.

As​ associate veterinarian,​ ​Andersen​ ​will​ ​oversee​ ​the Humane Society’s​ ​affordable​ ​pet​ ​wellness​ ​clinic,​ ​which offers​ ​low-cost​ ​vaccines​ ​and​ ​other​ ​basic​ ​services​ ​to​ ​pet​ ​owners.​ ​She​ ​also​ ​will​ ​work​ ​closely​ ​with​ ​Dr.​ Jaime​ ​Feroli, the Humane Society’s medical director,​ ​to manage​ ​the​ ​veterinary​ ​care​ ​of​ ​adoptable​ ​animals​.

A​ ​lifelong​ ​resident​ ​of​ ​Hall​ ​County,​ ​Andersen​ ​has​ ​served​ ​as​ ​a​ ​general​ ​practice​ ​veterinarian​ ​in​ ​White and​ ​Hall​ ​counties.​ ​She​ ​received​ ​her​ ​undergraduate​ ​degree​ ​from​ ​the​ ​University​ ​of​ ​Georgia ​and​ ​her​ ​Doctor​ ​of Veterinary​ ​Medicine​ ​​from​ ​Tuskegee​ ​University​ ​Veterinary​ ​School​ ​in​ ​Tuskegee,​ ​Ala. ​She​ ​also​ ​will receive​ ​her​ ​certification​ ​from​ ​the​ ​Chi​ ​Institute​ ​of​ ​Traditional​ ​Chinese​ ​Veterinary​ ​Medicine.
