Someone broke into a Gainesville pharmacy and stole an undetermined amount of narcotics early Wednesday, authorities said.

Hall County Sheriff’s Col. Jeff Strickland said deputies responded to a burglar alarm around 6 a.m. at Lanier Pharmacy in the 3500 block of Thompson Bridge Road.

The door’s lock was broken and a phone line was cut outside the business, disrupting phone and Internet service in the area, Strickland said.

An unknown amount of prescription pharmaceuticals were stolen, Strickland said.

The Hall County criminal investigations division and the Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad is investigating.
