A student read with an Australian accent, another wore a headscarf and is from Afghanistan, two groups had Chinese students reading and one was a professor from the Ivory Coast. World Literacy Day was observed Tuesday for children attending the afterschool program at First Baptist Church. United Way and the Read Learn Succeed program helped put the program together.
