Authorities have charged a Mount Airy man with aggravated assault after they say he pointed a gun at a woman during what they called a “road rage incident.”

Deputies with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday arrested Ryan Colvard Fleming, 33, according to spokesman Lt. Scott Ware.

According to Ware, Fleming pointed a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol at a woman following a verbal altercation with her in traffic, and continued to point the gun at her while following her on Cornelia Highway.

The woman had two passengers in the car with her, including a child, Ware said in an email release. The victim called 911 and a lookout was broadcast for Fleming’s vehicle.

Deputies located and arrested Fleming on Highway 365 at Jaemor Farms. Deputies also recovered a firearm, according to Ware.

No one was injured.

Fleming was charged with aggravated assault and booked in to the Hall County Jail. No bond has been set, Ware said.

The victim and Fleming didn’t know each other, Ware said.
