A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a head-on collision with an SUV on U.S. 129 North that temporarily detoured traffic.

The Georgia State Patrol said the accident happened shortly after 6 p.m. at U.S. 129 North at River Run Circle. The motorcyclist failed to maintain his lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Ford Expedition, the patrol said.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital with critical injuries.
