More than 15,000 Jackson EMC customers have had power restored from Tuesday night's storms, company officials said Wednesday, with only a few dozen left in the dark as of 10 a.m.

Some 292 outages remain, according to Jackson EMC spokesman Mark Owen, 37 of those in Hall and Lumpkin counties. The other 253 are in Gwinnett County.

Crews replaced 16 broken poles overnight and worked through many downed trees and limbs in the process of restoring power.

“We got hit pretty hard with this storm, but we’re doing everything we can to restore power as quickly and safely as possible,” said Tommy Parker, Director, Operations Services. “Our crews, along with six contract crews and eight right-of-way crews, will work through the night and will continue working until all power is restored.”
