Most of Hall County is in severe drought, but that’s an improvement over a few weeks ago, when parts of North Hall were in extreme drought.
A small section of northeast Hall is still in extreme drought, along with most of Banks County, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
Gainesville received 2.65 inches of rain in the month of July, compared to the normal rain total of 4.22 inches, according to the National Weather Service. But so far in August, 3.45 inches has already been recorded, and the normal rain total for this month is 2.51 inches.
Still, Gainesville normally has received more than 31 inches of rain by the end of July and almost 36 inches by the end of August. The total for the year so far stood at 24.3 inches on Thursday.
