South Hall’s residential boom continues, with two more developments proposed in Oakwood, for a total of 306 units.

A 240-townhome development is planned on 47 acres off Oakwood Road, between McEver and Flat Creek roads. The other calls for 66 apartments, plus a commercial/office center, off Woodlane Drive and facing Thurmon Tanner Parkway.

The proposals are set to go before the Oakwood Planning Commission at 7 p.m. Monday, May 21.

MB Endeavors LLC is asking for 7.3 acres at 3950 Oakwood Road to be rezoned from agricultural to planned residential development. The property is next to another nearly 40 acres already zoned as planned residential development.

“It’s a perfect time for this (7.3 acres) to be zoned as the adjoining tract,” the rezoning application states.

In the other proposal, Shadow Stone Partners LLC is looking to build three apartment buildings housing 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom units off 4642 Woodlane Drive, which extends off Allen Street and is behind the city cemetery.

The complex would feature a clubhouse, playground and outdoor fireplace and lounge.

Shadow Stone proposes commercial/office space, “which will require housing for the employees,” between Woodlane and Thurmon Tanner, according to the company’s application.

Shadow Stone is asking for the 5-acre site to be rezoned from single-family residential to planned residential development.

“The future intent would have access primarily via Thurmon Tanner Parkway,” Shadow Stone says.

Subdivision, apartment and townhome developments have filled government agendas recently for South Hall cities, including Oakwood.

Shadow Stone also is planning townhomes off Allen Street not far from the proposed site for 66 apartments. That project also calls for access to Thurmon Tanner, which is a four-lane road between Oakwood and Flowery Branch and parallel to Interstate 985.
