Workers return to work Friday afternoon at Mincey Marble following a small rubbish fire at the plant on Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville. No significant damage was reported.
A rubbish fire caused no significant damage at the Mincey Marble facility on Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville early Friday afternoon, according to Hall County Fire Services. The source of the fire was leaves and debris caught in a gutter and pipe that empties into a storm drain, Capt. Zachary Brackett said, but the cause was not immediately known. Workers were evacuated for a short time after smoke was detected, and firefighters quickly extinguished any remaining burning material after workers initially used fire extinguishers, Brackett said.
