Parks meeting
The public meeting on the North Hall park will be Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium at Mount Vernon Elementary School.

The plans for the North Hall park will be presented at a public meeting on Oct. 1 at Mount Vernon Elementary School.

Plans for the park include Little League Baseball fields, a walking and jogging track, tennis courts, multipurpose fields and a children’s play area.

Other possible amenities include hiking and bicycling trails and campsites, as well as a performing arts venue.

The park will also include a community center that will be modeled after the East Hall and Mulberry Creek Community centers.

The community center is slated to include gyms, a workout room, indoor walking track, a craft room, aerobics room, meeting space and offices.

The county recently purchased about 123 acres of land near the intersection of Nopone Road and Cleveland Highway for $2.6 million.

The public meeting will follow the public meetings for the Cool Springs park, which will take place the next two Tuesdays at Chestatee Middle School.

The Cool Springs park will be built on about 85 acres of land donated to the county by Cool Springs, LLC.

The Hall County Board of Commissioners recently voted to fast-track the North Hall park.

The county estimates the project will be complete by 2011.
