Hall County firefighters inspect a Stewart Brothers tar truck Wednesday afternoon after it was extinguished with foam by firefighters. The truck was parked in a field a few feet off McEver Road near Allen Road.

A truck containing tar caught fire Wednesday afternoon and shut down McEver Road for an hour.

The road was blocked between H.F. Reed Industrial Parkway and Chamblee Road.

Responding Hall County firefighters found the truck fully engulfed in flames, but no injuries were reported, according to department spokesman Capt. Zachary Brackett.

Most of the fire had been put out around 4 p.m. Wednesday, but personnel worked to cool the truck’s holding tank and fuel tank, Brackett said.

The truck was being used by crews doing road repairs in the area of McEver Road in South Hall.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, Brackett said.
