No foul play is suspected in the death of a man whose body was found during a welfare check at a home near downtown Gainesville on Wednesday, Feb. 27, according to police officials.
Medical emergency personnel were called to a home on Forrest Avenue at about 10:30 a.m., where the individual, whose name and age have not been publicly released, was found in the backyard.
“Upon arrival, (they) found a male subject deceased on the confines of the property,” Gainesville Police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Holbrook told The Times. “We’ll hopefully be able to determine more information once an autopsy is complete.”
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Gainesville Police Department in the investigation.
Holbrook said no one else was present on the scene when emergency personnel arrived, and there is no information about the cause or manner of death at this time.
“As we do with each and every death investigation … crime scene specialists are on the scene,” Holbrook added. “They are working on processing the scene and will help us to determine what direction this case will go.”
