A man was sentenced to three months of probation after pleading guilty to taking roughly $300 from the Chattahoochee National Forest’s parking lots.

Joey Dean Green pleaded guilty to theft of U.S. property and was sentenced in January in U.S. District Court in Gainesville.

According to court officials, Green pleaded guilty to taking the money out of the fee tubes in the forest’s parking lots in August and September of 2017. This case was a misdemeanor.

Green’s attorney Suzanne Hashimi did not return a request for comment.

As part of his probation, Green must refrain from “excessive use of alcohol,” submit to searches by a U.S. probation officer, participate in a drug/alcohol treatment program and pay $300 in restitution to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
