The driver of a tractor trailer was taken by ambulance to Chestatee Regional Hospital Wednesday afternoon after losing control in a curve and careening down an embankment on Ga. 52, just east of Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawson County.
Emergency workers on the scene said the driver, whose name had not been released, was able to crawl out of the truck and up the embankment to the roadway.
Billy Thurmond, director of Dawson County Emergency Services, said the man’s injuries were not life threatening.
The truck, owned by F.H. Westmoreland in Cleveland, was hauling frozen poultry that spilled out when the trailer split in half at the bottom of the embankment.
The cause of the wreck, which shut down one lane of Ga. 52, is being investigated by Georgia State Patrol.
