A pedestrian died after he was struck by a train while walking on railroad tracks in Gainesville, the Hall County Sheriff's Office reported Tuesday night.
The white male victim, who has not been identified, was struck and killed by a southbound train while walking on the tracks just south of the Queen City Parkway bridge, the sheriff's office reported in a news release.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the call just before 9 p.m. A preliminary investigation showed that the man failed to move off the tracks as the train approached and sounded its horn.
The victim's name was withheld pending the notification of family members.
The incident remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Criminal Investigations Division.
