A Maysville man was killed Friday afternoon when his truck was struck by a train in Commerce.

The Georgia State Patrol said Gilmer F. Glenn, 69, died in the accident, which happened at about 4:30 p.m. Friday at a Norfolk Southern crossing on King Street.

Officials said Glenn’s 2006 Ford F-150 truck was eastbound on King Street near Old Maysville Road when it stopped on the train tracks for unknown reasons and was struck by a northbound train.

Glenn died at the scene, officials said.

Glenn is the brother of Garry Glenn, a Gainesville broadcaster who is co-host of the "Hall County Sports Show," shown on Charter Channel 18. Garry Glenn also is a former wrestling coach and broadcasting teacher at Johnson High School.
