An employee of Dave’s Goody Barn died Saturday in what the Hall County Sheriff’s Office determined to be an accident.

According to Hall County Fire Capt. Scott Cagle, the fire department responded to a call at 9:47 a.m. Saturday that reported a man trapped under a pile of lumber was injured.

Firefighters arrived at 2516 Old Cornelia Highway and found a white male in his 30s under a shelf full of lumber. Cagle said authorities pronounced the man dead on the scene. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office already has closed their investigation into the man’s death and deemed it accidental.

Dave’s Goody Barn will be closed pending the conclusion of an investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, set to begin Tuesday. Authorities are withholding the victim’s name until his family is notified. He was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center and an autopsy will be performed Monday to determine the exact cause of death, Cagle said.
