A South Hall man died this afternoon after he fell from a deer stand behind his home.

Around 2 p.m., officers were called to Avalon Place off Parks Road near Atlanta Highway to help an injured person, said Col. Jeff Strickland of the Hall County Sheriff's Office.

"Deputies met with his brother, who led them about 200 yards behind the residence," Strickland said.

The 45-year-old white male, whose name is not being released until family members are informed, left his home to set up a deer stand for future use. He was gone for several hours when the brother searched the woods and found his body.

"It appears he fell about 25 feet from the deer stand," Strickland said. "We don't suspect foul play at this time."

The case is still under investigation.
