The Georgia State Patrol on Friday took out a felony vehicular homicide warrant against a Canton man in connection with a Tuesday afternoon wreck in South Hall that killed a motorcyclist.

A Hall County magistrate judge signed the arrest warrant for Zachary Joseph Lorch, who is accused of driving under the influence in the crash on Friendship Road that claimed the life of 41-year-old Bill Tomei of Flowery Branch.

According to the state patrol, Lorch was westbound on Friendship Road in the area of Bogan Road about 5 p.m. Tuesday when his Ford F-550 left the road, ran onto the shoulder, then skidded back sideways across both lanes of traffic.

Tomei, who was eastbound on his motorcycle, was struck by the truck and killed.

Lorch was arrested the day of the crash on charges of DUI and failure to maintain lane. He posted a $5,100 bond and was released Wednesday.

Lorch will be booked again on the new charge of homicide by motor vehicle, officials said.
