A Gainesville man is accused of getting into multiple cars at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center parking lot in Gainesville, police said.

Christopher Dale Blankenship, 30, was charged with five counts of entering an auto to steal.

Gainesville Police officers responded to the hospital around 1 p.m. Thursday.

“Security officials with the hospital had spotted an individual unlawfully entering multiple automobiles in a parking lot and immediately notified police,” Sgt. Kevin Holbrook wrote in a news release.

After getting a description of the suspect, officers intercepted a vehicle at E.E. Butler Parkway and Ridge Road.

Blankenship was also charged with fleeing, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and two counts of violating the Georgia Controlled Substances Act.

He was booked in to the Hall County Jail, where he remains.
