A Hall County man is accused of intentionally starting a house fire last month and preventing a firefighter from putting it out.

The fire happened Nov. 22 at a home in the 2800 block of Gillsville Highway.

Jose Alfredo Macias, 26, is charged with first-degree arson, hindering a firefighter and obstructing an officer, according to Capt. Zachary Brackett with the Hall County Fire Services.

Macias was arrested Dec. 2 and remains in the Hall County Jail.

Macias previously had a warrant issued May 20 for violating probation stemming from a 2008 burglary.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office and Hall Fire Services continue to investigate the fire.
